English has a variety of phonetic sounds, including both consonants and vowels. There are approximately 44 distinct phonetic sounds in the English language. These sounds are represented using symbols from the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). 

Consonant sounds include "b," "p," "t," "d," "k," "g," "s," "z," "f," "v," "ʃ," "ʒ," "h," "m," "n," "ŋ," "l," "r," and more.
